Daimler India Commercial Vehicles, a 100 per cent subsidiary of Daimler AG, unveiled four new Bharat Benz models, three tractor-trailers and one construction/mining vehicle. Daimler has been on the offensive since September 2012 when it launched three heavy-duty trucks, the 2523R, 2523C and the 3123C followed by more launches in other segments in early 2013. This led to the company gaining significant market share, the fourth largest piece of the pie. This launch has increased the number of models sold by Bharat Benz to eight. The previous four models have already sold 75,000 units and the figure is expected to double in a matter of months.

2013 was a good year for the truck manufacturer claiming the “Best Rigid Haulage Truck of the Year” and the “CV of the Year” award for the Bharat Benz 3123R. DICV won the ‘CV maker of the Year’ award and BharatBenz won more two awards for its trucks in January this year. Other products like the 1217C and the 3128C have won the “Innovation of the Year” award and the “Best Haulage Carrier over 25 tonnes GVW’ respectively at the industry-leading Apollo CV Awards.

The first Bharat Benz dealership was opened in Chennai in August 2012 and has expanded to a network of 75 outlets which is in line with its plans to achieve more than a 100 locations by early 2015.
