It’s party time for Nissan, especially for Nismo, the motorsport and performance arm of the Japanese marque. The annual Nismo Festival, which commenced at the Fuji Speedway from November 29th, is meant to be bigger than before, owing to the 82 podium finishes and 42 race victories that Nismo has achieved on race tracks around the world, during the year of its 30th anniversary.

As the new Super GT Champions at the last round at Motegi, Nismo lovers have a lot more to celebrate at this rendezvous. Nissan-powered LMP2 cars won every round so far of the FIA World Endurance Championship, the European Le Mans Series LMP2 title, and manaded to be in the top five LMP2 positions at the Le Mans 24 Hours. As icing on the cake, Sir Chris Hoy began his road to Le Mans by racing a GT3 GT-R in the British GT Championship, and Jann Mardenborough, the gamer-to-racer from Nissan’s 2011 GT Academy, has written a new chapter by winning in his first year in the GP3 Series.

The celebrations are in full swing and will include drifting displays, a 100-car parade by Nismo owners, and plenty of racing. A group of Nismo athletes were rewarded for their commitment this year, with a Super GT test at Fuji as part of celebrations. evo India takes pride in joining the celebrations in Japan, and our own editor is there bringing the latest at the festival.
