Washing one’s car isn’t so much of an issue in India as most owners have someone to do it for them. The rest of the world isn’t as lucky and has to clean their cars themselves or take it to a car wash. In either case, it is a job most don’t enjoy and would prefer to avoid. Nissan is working on a ‘self-cleaning’ car and we hope it becomes a reality sooner rather than later.

Nissan Note self cleaning

This is the first application of Ultra-Ever Dry® technology on a car which repels water, dust and mud due to a protective layer of air between the paint and the atmosphere. Engineers at Nissan will continue to test the paint technology during the coming months through various conditions.

Nissan’s Note hatchback, sold in European markets, already has a form of self-cleaning applied to its rear view camera and sensors. A jet of compressed air and water keeps both these important features free of dirt and mud so as to provide proper navigation and a clear view of the rear.

Nissan has confirmed that at this point, the Ultra-Ever Dry® paint tech will not be offered as standard on any of their models but they may offer it as an aftermarket extra. Geraldine Ingham, Chief Marketing Manager for Nissan Note, commented, “We are committed to addressing everyday problems our customers face and will always consider testing exciting, cutting edge technology like this incredible coating application.”
