Nissan was quite busy at the 12th Auto Expo showcasing its new brand, Datsun, though it still carved out time to bring the facelifted Sunny to the fore. The Japanese manufacturer also announced that it would engage in less of the badge re-engineering that took place last year with its international partner, Renault. The new Sunny has more than a slight resemblance to the Teana due to its larger front grille, bigger and more angular headlamps and a redesigned front bumper. The view from the rear is the same and the side profile now features ORVM-mounted signals and new Y-spoke alloys.

The inside of the Sunny has seen some changes such as a leather-wrapped steering wheel, aluminium inserts and a new central console in a piano black finish, which lend a premium feel to the mid-size sedan. The Sunny is known for the massive amount of rear leg room it offers and comfort has been enhanced by perforated leather seats, making it extremely comfortable as a chauffeur-driven car.

There aren’t any mechanical changes and the new Sunny will retain the 1.5-litre petrol developing 98bhp and 134Nm and the 1.5-litre K9K diesel producing 85bhp and 200Nm of torque. The petrol engine will be mated to either a 5-speed manual or a CVT ‘box while the diesel K9K motor will only come with the manual option.
