You’ve got it wrong if you thought that the Porsche Cayman and Boxster do not have sporting pedigree. They are highly regarded sportscars for their impeccable handling and acceleration. Porsche will now showcase Gran Turismo Sport (GTS) versions of the Cayman and Boxster in a world premiere at the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition which will start on April 20, 2014.

The GTS versions will use the Porsche’s 3.4-litre six-cylinder Boxer engine souped-up by 15bhp which means that the Boxster GTS develops 330bhp while the Cayman GTS produces 340bhp. The engine has been tuned to deliver an extra 10Nm translating to a total torque output of 370Nm and 380Nm for the Boxster and Cayman GTS respectively. The increased power output enables the Boxster GTS to sprint to the ton in 4.7 seconds with the PDK gearbox and Sport Plus mode while the Cayman GTS will do the same in 4.6 seconds.

The German marque’s top-of-the-line sportscar models will have Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) which electronically controls damping function of the shock absorber and the Sport Chrono package will be offered as standard. The blacked out bi-xenon headlamps with Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS) reminisces Porsche’s Carerra GT and is a breakaway from the usual headlamp design that we’ve seen on previous models. The front end is distinguished by large air dams which house a pair of sleek DRLs and large air intakes on the sides add a purposeful look to the design. The rear of both these models are different and more compact than the previous gen models and the LED tail lamps are aptly integrated to complete the look. The two seater sportscars will feature Alacantra leather trim on the inside.
