Registrations open for 2014 Helmet Stories Ride
Registration for the 2014 Helmet Stories Ride to the scenic Pangi Valley are now open. Participation in the 7 day ride is limited to 12 people, costs Rs 80,000 and includes the following:
- All accommodation on twin sharing basis (Manali, Tandi, Dharamshala and Chandigarh)
- Tents (one per person), sleeping bags, mattress, etc.
- All meals
- Cook and kitchen staff and kitchen tent
- Mechanic
- Experienced tour leaders
- Support vehicle and backup crew
- Bike
- Petrol
- All the coffee you can drink
Everything else like airfare and shipping of the bike, insurance and the booze (to keep warm in the cold weather, of course) will have to be self funded.
The route the ride will take, starts in Manali and penetrates far into the north, all the way to Sach Pass and then climbs back down to Dharamshala and then to Chandigarh. Day 4, from Sural to Satrundi is considered to be the most difficult stage in the long ride but the scenic vistas, and the sheer joy of riding on roads that are unpaved and narrow and hewn out of living rock.
The route through the Pangi valley for the 2014 Helmet Stories Ride was first traversed in 2012 and has since been used every year.
