Sicard to lead Nissan India operations

While Guillaume Sicard was the Deputy President since July, 2014, Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd. has now appointed Sicard as their new President of India operations, effective from October 1, 2014. Sicard will report to Takashi Hata, Senior Vice President of Nissan Motor Co. Ltd., in charge of Africa, Middle East and India.

A statement from the company explains that Sicard will be responsible for all the company’s operations in the country, including manufacturing at the plant in Chennai, which has a capacity of 4,00,000 units. He will lead business development as Nissan expands its sales networks in India for both the Nissan and Datsun brands, and the launch of new products. The statement also suggests that the Japanese marque is looking to become a major player in the automobile sector, in India, under his leadership.

Prior to joining Nissan India, Sicard served as the Chief Operating Officer of Renault Turkey (MAIS). Having joined Renault in 1992, he has held several leadership positions in sales and marketing in France, Spain, and South Africa. Nissan India will later announce the new managing director of Nissan Motor India Private Ltd (NMIPL) and Nissan’s sales and marketing company in India, who will report to Sicard.

The appointment of Sicard is due to the current President of Nissan India, Kenichiro Yomura, moving to Japan, where he will assume the post of General Manager, Africa Business Management Department, Nissan Motor Co. Ltd., also effective October 1, 2014.
