Škoda Auto India Private Limited (SAIPL) has launched the 2015 Yeti with prices starting at Rs 18.99 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. The facelift for Skoda’s crossover comes four years after its India debut. The new Yeti is powered by the same 2.0TDI engine that develops 108.5bhp for the 4x2 version, and 138bhp for the 4x4 version, mated to a six-manual transmission. There are less variants to choose from as the 4x2 and 4x4 come in just the top-spec Elegance variant and are priced at Rs 18.99 lakh and Rs 20.53 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), respectively. The prices are slightly higher compared to the outgoing model and Skoda claims a fuel efficiency of 17.72kmpl for the 4x2, while the 4x4 version returns an almost equal 17.67kmpl.

The new Ytei comes with a new 5th gen Haldex differential for a better 4x4 experience and various off-roading assists like Uphill start assistant, ASR (for better grip on mud), an ABS tuned for off-raod conbditions, and downhill assist.

The Yeti facelift was first showcased at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show. It was unveiled in two different variants- Yeti and Yeti Outdoor. What we are getting is the outdoor version which has some off-road elements such as silver-finish bash plate at the bottom of the front and rear bumpers, apart from the four-wheel drive system.

Up front, the design has changed from a funky one to a more mature one. The highlight of the earlier Yeti, the prominent fog lamps next to the headlamps, made its way to the reworked bumper. The bi-xenon lamps with LED day time running lights are standard now. The grille, bonnet, essentally the entire design of the new Yeti, has been adopted from Skoda’s VisionC concept. At the rear, newly designed LED tail lamps, that make the letter C effect when it glows, brings back memories of the earlier Octavias. The new Yeti also features Skoda’s new logo. The silver painted roof rails and ORVMs differentiates the new Yeti from current model in side view. The wheel arches have been beefed-up and there are three new 16-inch alloy wheel designs to choose from depending on the variant.

The interior has been spruced up with a new steering wheel. The driver’s seat is electronically adjustable with three pre set modes. There is keyless entry and a new touch-screen infotainment screen.

Price-wise, it seems like Skoda isn’t looking at the Yeti to improve sales figures considering that the new Renault Duster AWD won’t retail for more than Rs 15 lakh.
