Subaru teases the new WRX S4

The countdown to Subaru’s cult all-wheel drive sports sedan has begun. In 27 days, Subaru Automobiles will take the wraps off the 2015 WRX. Officially called the ‘WRX S4’, the “S4” stands for ‘Sports performance’, ‘Safety performance’, ‘Smart driving’ and ‘Sophisticated feel’.

The sports sedan will have Subaru’s AWD performance as its core attribute. It will also focus on what Subaru calls as ‘unique overall safety performance’ which includes features as the next-generation EyeSight, ‘superior environmental friendliness’ and ‘high-quality feel’. All this should enable even novice drivers to enjoy the cars’ performance with a bigger safety net.

Going by the teaser image, the silhouette appears to be carried over from the 2014 Subaru WRX STI with revisions to the headlamps and tail-lamps. The distinctive central bonnet scoop also seems to be carried over which means it will retain the iconic design while taking it even further.
