If the quirky, interesting, even imposing design of Renault’s SUV-inspired KWID didn’t impress you, then the price certainly will. Starting at Rs 2,56,968, Renault’s small hatchback takes the fight straight to the Maruti Alto’s door. Heck, it’s driving straight through the door with its dimensions and feature list! Using a similar 800cc, 3-cylinder engine, the KWID motor puts out 54PS and 72Nm of torque, beating its obvious Maruti competitor.

Despite being a ‘small’ hatch, the KWID brings some interesting features to the table, which Renault claims are a segment-first. There’s a 7" touchscreen navigation system on offer, as is keyless entry. The car justifies the ‘SUV-inspired’ tag with a generous 180mm of ground clearance. Despite being just over 3.5 metres long, the KWID has a 300 litre boot, which should be enough for the odd airport run. Renault keeps it quirky with an all-digital console on all variants, and a driver’s airbag is on offer in the top variant. There are also six “accessory packs” available for customers to tailor their vehicle to their specific needs.

Renault is offering a 2 year/50,000km warranty for the KWID, extendable to 4 years/80,000km. Complimentary roadside assistance is available for the first two years as well.
