Suzuki launches Gixxer at Rs 72,199
Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt. Ltd. (SMIPL) has launched the Gixxer, a new entrant to the 150cc category, priced at Rs 72,199 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The new motorcycle sits above the GS150R, and is designed to make an entrance into the new street riding segment in India as SMPIL itself calls it a ‘Street Sport’ motorcycle. The Gixxer boasts of a refined 155cc mill that puts out 14.6bhp (highest in class) and 14Nm of shove, and comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox, as opposed to the 6-speed unit on GS150R. The Gixxer is equipped with Suzuki Eco Performance, the technology that enables the engine to deliver higher fuel efficiency by reducing all kinds of mechanical losses, thanks to efficient design and attention to detail in manufacturing processes, leading to a claimed fuel economy of 63.5kmpl.
The sharp, clean lines project a lithe, agile-looking machine. The design has been kept compact to enhance the riding experience. The rakish head lamp is complemented by the thick 41mm front forks and tank extensions. The sculpted tank has deep knee recesses with the rear sloping sharply towards the rider. The rear gets a short tailpiece with body coloured grab rails designed to look as a part of the tail piece. The triangular LED tail lamp gets a satin black finished shroud.
The Gixxer comes with a fuel tank capacity of 12-litres and weights just 135 kilograms. The new motorcycle rides on 17-inch tubeless tyres and the front wheel is equipped with a disc brake. The new motorcycle will be sold in five colour options- ‘metallic oort grey’, ‘candy antares red’, ‘glass sparkle black’, ‘metallic triton blue’, and ‘pearl mirage white’.
