While a new and refreshed 2015 Toyota Fortuner is yet to hit the showrooms, Toyota has updated the existing model in a bid to retain potential customers. Cosmetic changes are minimal in keeping with the eminent launch of a completely updated model.

On the outside, the headlamps and tail lamps get a smoked lens treatment, the fog lamps get a chrome bezel with a ridge neatly integrated into the bumper. The alloy wheels remain the same but now come with a satin finished dark Grey colour scheme.

The interiors get an all-Black treatment with Black dashboard trim along with dark wood-finish inserts. The steering wheel is now a wood and leather affair which certainly looks luxurious. There is a touchscreen infotainment system on offer with in-built Navigation and Voice recognition. Automatic climate control has also been added to the features list. The luxury theme continues with the black leather seats, leather and wood door Safety features come in the form of front airbags and seatbelt pretensioners. Then there is ABS, EBD and Stability control among other safety gizmos.

The biggest change is the inclusion of a 4X4 automatic version which will be the range-topper. This means you can enjoy the convenience of the 5-speed automatic and when need be engage the 4X4 4L mode via the lever, which might be old-school but adds character the the SUV.

Engine option remains the same 3.0-L common rail turbo-diesel producing 169bhp at 3600rpm and 3600Nm of torque in the 1400–3200rpm range. The Facelifted model is expected in the price range of Rs 24–27lakh which should put it up against the Hyundai Santa Fe AWD AT and Honda CRV 2.4 AT

The Innova also receives minor cosmetic updates with dual airbags and ABS standard across the range. The interior trims come in a Brown ‘Oak’ shade with roof mounted third row AC vent. Prices will be in the 10–16 lakh range.
