Triumph had entered India in November 2013 simultaneously launching 10 motorcycles, with another launched a little later. The 12th model in the Triumph line-up, the Thnderbird LT is, as the name suggests, a light tourer (LT) and will join the Rocket III Roadster and the Thunderbird Storm in the British manufacturer’s luxury cruiser range. Priced at Rs 15.75 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the Thunderbird LT will compete against the Harley-Davidson Softail Heritage Classic.

Triumph claims that the Thunderbird LT’s 1699cc engine is the world’s largest capacity parallel-cylinder motor and has been tuned so that even inexperienced riders find the bike managable. The 1.7-litre parallel-twin, eight-valve, DOHC motor puts out 93bhp at 5400rpm and 151Nm of torque at 3550rpm, and is mated to a six-speed transmission.

Standard equipment on the Thunderbird LT includes a pair of detachable leather saddle bags, auxiliary spot lamps, and, a world-first white-walled radial tyres. The seat has been given deeper foam padding and improved lumbar support to provide better comfort while traveling long distances. The low seat height will better accomodate people of various sizes. The LT gets a removable look-over windscreen and comes in three paint finishes- ‘caspian blue’, the dual tone ‘crystal white and lava red’, and ‘phantom black’.
