Not one to be left behind in the EICMA launch rush, Husqvarna have unveiled three new motorcycles. First of the lot is the production spec 701 Supermoto, which is a follow up to the concept showcased by them at EICMA last year. The 701 Supermoto is essentially a re-badged, slightly re-engineered KTM 690 SMC R. Both share the same powertrain and chassis. The Huskie, however, would be positioned at a slight premium over the KTM.

As far as the engine goes, the Huskie will get the same 690cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled motor, that produces a healthy 66.05bhp at 7500rpm and 68Nm at 5500rpm (which are identical to the figures on the KTM 690 SMC R). The motor comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox via a slipper clutch. The fly-by-wire throttle technology offers three pre-set ride modes.

The Supermoto’s styling is minimalist, and conforms strictly to the segment. The tubular steel frame is supported by WP upside-down forks up front, and a monoshock with Pro-Lever linkage at the rear. The setup is similar to that of the KTM model.

Along with this, Husqvarna have also showcased their 401 Vitpilen and 401 Svartpilen concepts. The two scramblers will set the tone for the future of the company. Engine-wise, the ‘White Arrow’ (401 Svartpilen) is powered by a single-cylinder liquid-cooled mill.

The trellis frame, WP suspension system and braking components also appear to have been borrowed from the Duke.
