Unveiled at EICMA: 2015 Triumph Tigers
The launch brigade continues at EICMA with Triumph unveiling their newest reiterations of their legendary Tiger series. The new series get a full makeover for the next year, with new more efficient engines designed for improved economy, new-look body panels, traction control, and ABS as standard.
The standard Tiger 800 and Tiger 800XC base models get new ride-by-wire throttles, and make the same 94bhp as the previous generation bike. The new bikes also get engine internals and gearbox from the Daytona 675 which according to Triumph, offers 17 per cent better fuel economy on average, up from 19.47kmpl to 23.1kmpl, and a class-leading tank range of 438km.
That’s some 80km further than the current bike, according to Triumph’s claims on the standard 19-litre fuel tank. The new Tigers get a 21-inch front wheel, while the taller and more off-road inspired XC and XCx, get new WP suspension.
The standard Tiger 800 XR weighs in at 213kg wet, while the Tiger 800 XRx with its extra bolt-ons is 216kg. The Tiger 800 XC weighs in at 218kg, and the Tiger 800 XCx and its accessories add up to a total weight of 221kg.
That compares to Suzuki’s updated V-Strom 650X at 215kg, the standard BMW F800GS at 229kg (fuelled and ready to ride).
As well as a restyle and new titanium coloured-frames, the new bodywork now conducts hot-air from the engine away from the rider. There’s adjustable bars, height adjustable seat, and an adjustable headlight angle lever to point the headlight down when carrying pillions or heavy loads.
Triumph offers a host of features and conveniences like:
- Advanced trip computer
- Road and Off Road riding modes
- Three configurable Rider riding mode
- Auto-cancel indicators
