Volvo launched their performance-oriented mid-size sedan, the S60 T6 on Friday. It will be available for ₹42 lac ex-Delhi and goes up against the Mercedes C-Class, Audi A4, Jaguar XF and BMW 3 Series.

Volvo hasn’t seen as much popularity in India as its European rivals, and we wish it wasn’t so. The value for the price they’re offered at is significant. The T6, being a petrol sports sedan, didn’t do very well when it was first offered in 2011 and was discontinued just a year later. Which was a crying shame, because it was a hoot to belt around the track. With the new T6, we have a 2 litre, four pot turbo motor belting out 306PS and 400Nm, all going to the front wheels. That should make for some amusing torque steer. Volvo offers an AWD version internationally, but not in India. Zero to 100 comes up in a claimed 5.9 seconds to a top speed of 230kmph, all while delivering a fuel efficiency of 15.6kmpl.

With the S60 T6 on offer, one has a relatively cheap way to park a 300 horsepower car in one’s garage. Coupled with Volvo’s legendary safety features, this should be a cracker of a car.
