Yamaha launches Fazer FI Version 2.0
Like the new FZ and FZ-S launched at the end of June, its the Fazer’s turn to get the new air-cooled 149cc 4-stroke, SOHC, single-cylinder fuel-injected engine that Yamaha calls ‘Blue Core’. Priced at Rs. 83,850 (ex-showroom Delhi), the new Fazer FI is known for its big-bike feel and looks (thanks to the bikini fairing) and is aimed at attracting young men aged between 18–30 years.
Despite making 0.7bhp and 0.8Nm less than the older carburettor version, the fuel injection makes the engine much smoother and makes the throttle response crisper. Yamaha claims the Blue Core engine will deliver 14 per cent better fuel efficiency, better acceleration, and will comply with BS4 norms. The tourer’s seating position has been revised in line with its FZ/FZ-S siblings making it comfortable for long rides. Continuing the list of upgrades in common with its naked siblings, the instrument cluster is all digital and comes with an ‘ECO Indicator’ that lights up when the machine is ridden in an eco-friendly manner. The Fazer FI Version 2.0 is available in ‘red dawn’, ‘black hawk’, and ‘white cloud’ dual-tone paint finishes.
