Continuing their slew of Version 2.0 launches, with new colours and a new fuel injected 149cc engine (read the FZ series), Yamaha has launched the new SZ-RR Version 2.0 for Rs 65,300 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The SZ-RR does get the new 149cc engine from Yamaha’s new engine development ideal, ‘Blue Core’, though misses out on the fuel injection. The carbureted single cylinder motor produces 11.9bhp at 7500rpm and 12.8Nm of torque (same as the older 153cc mill). The peak torque, however, comes in at a higher 6000rpm compared to the previous engine’s 4000rpm. Mated to a five-speed manual, Yamaha claimes that the new engine will deliver 11 per cent better fuel economy, while also offering better levels of refinement and smoothness.

New equipment on the SZ-RR is limited to tubeless tyres and a new instrument console. It is available in three colours — red, ivory and green.

Roy Kurian, vice president, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd, said, “It is our pleasure to be launching the all new SZ-RR version 2.0 this festive season at the closing ceremony of our successful endeavour of Mission 10,000km. With our breakthrough technology, Blue Core, now inducted to our successful SZ-RR model, we want to present our customers with advanced choices and fun riding in the city. Looking at the demand for standard segment commuter motorcycles which is projected at 1.1 million units in 2014, it was indeed ideal for us to delight customers in this segment with the launch of SZ-RR Version 2.0.”
