You need to see this: 200kmph wheelie on ice is the new world record
In the automobile world, Sweden is well known for its ice driving experience, as our Ed found out on his recent trip (read evo India’s April issue for details). As with heat and rain in India, snow and ice is the norm in the Scandinavian country which has led to the Swedish people excelling at driving (and riding) in these conditions. Frozen lakes are usually used for both, drifting or for setting new records in the Guinness Book.
24-year-old Swedish rider Robert Gull wanted to be the fastest guy on ice while riding on one wheel, a feat our resident wheelie expert, Abhay, said is goddam dangerous. Well known for his videos showcasing his mad ice riding skills, Gull set a new record on his BMW S 1000 RR, managing an overall speed of 206.09kmph over 100m while on one wheel. His other records include hitting 200kmph on his S 1000 RR for a flying kilometre on ice, with a pillion!
Understandably, Gull has used spiked tyres to achieve the record that was previously held by American Ryan Suchanek, on a frozen lake in Wisconsin on a Kawasaki ZX-10R (clocked at 189.1kmph).
Here’s the video of the mad Swed blitzing past the 200kmph mark on one wheel on ice. You need to see this:
