Valentina Aguado and the 2017 Munich World Cup

The last Boulder World Cup of the season is taking place this weekend in Munich. I just came across the story of Valentina Aguado, a 16-year old climber from Argentina who was forced to stop competing after qualifying for semi-finals at the Paris 2016 Climbing World Championships last year. After registering for competition being legally cleared to climb in qualifiers, Aguado was informed that she was actually too young to be legally competing in the Opens category (she was 15 years of age for that year of competition).
Here is an interview she did with OnBouldering.com on her thoughts after the incident. Despite everything that happened, she still describes having an opportunity to compete at the World Championships as the best experience of her life; she understands that sometimes mistakes happen and she is more motivated to train than ever. What a model athlete. Also check out how strong she is.
And here are some male qualifier highlights:
Thank you OnBouldering.com for sharing this story and continued quality coverage on all things climbing :)
