Are You Ready for More Soulful Work?
The more conscious you become, the harder it gets to stay in situations that simply don’t honor your new-found energy. And for many, there is no bigger test of this spiritual up-leveling than with their work.
I personally believe that more and more people are waking up and realizing that their work is no longer aligned… and that misalignment is all of a sudden just too much to bear.
A fire is being lit that is driving people into work that allows them to use their talents toward what truly matters to them. And I think women, in particular, are being called into work that serves them, their families, and their communities in new ways.
There’s some stuff, though, that may be getting in the way.
That old work message is hanging around….
I grew up with a loud message around work. Work was something you did… you didn’t enjoy it, but it was what you did. Heck, nobody enjoys their job! You just gotta do it, even if it doesn’t make you happy.
This was a challenge for this soul-driven gal!
I never got off on the right foot with work. I did have a corporate job for a while, which I hated. I lived the message loud and clear. I went to work, got paid and was miserable. Deep down I knew I was meant to do something else… something soulful.
Transitioning into what I did love and felt called to do was a challenge for me. I had a lot of inner work to do to unravel the mindset and beliefs I held. There was some family healing for me to do, and I had to find myself and my own power to claim what I knew was my work in the world and stand in that.
Anyone who is struggling to figure out their soulful work in the world or how to make it happen has to work through their own stuff… because there is stuff. It’s going to start with how well you can claim your power and your passion.
Passion and desire are everything in this process.
But what happens when you feel so beaten down that you can’t even access what you feel passionate about? Without that, and a sense of direction, how can you make the shift from your “j.o.b.” into more soulful work?
It begins with finding your own creative energy.
I spend a lot of time working with people who need to start simply with finding themselves again before they can find the soulful work they seek. Our culture and work-world have drained so many of us that, sadly, having no idea what you want is a common sentiment.
We’ve lost our connection to our passion and the desire we hold for how we want to serve in the world — how we want to use our gifts.
To get in touch with this lost part of you, you want to start with a few simple energetic processes to get your own creative energy flowing. It’s not about pushing to get your brain to figure out your passion or the job you should be doing. You simply do not have the energetic capacity to tap into that creativity… yet.
We’ve got to turn your own energetic flow and creative energy back on.
That process is not a mental one, it’s about shifting your energy and opening the flow to where YOU have been crushed down and blocked.
Sometimes that work can be deep. There’s a reason why you and your creative energy are playing it safe.
So, try out a few of these tricks to get your creative energy flowing. As you do, you’ll have the ability to access more of your innate energy that taps you back into your soulful vision of your life.
Create space in your day for daydreaming.
Go for walks, sit outside with your cup of tea and do nothing. Really. Let your mind wander. Don’t go into the fears, but imagine your life as better.
Notice who you imagine yourself to be. Who are you like? What personal qualities does this “other you” hold that you admire? Do you have any skills in that imagined life that you wish you had here?
What from that imagined experience can you act on here… maybe start doing some of what that other version of you loves to do. I bet you’ll love it too!
Ask yourself questions like:
- What’s important to you?
- What do you secretly love to do?
- Who is your hero/shero? Why? What about them captures you? What qualities can you boost in yourself that can allow you to live that as well?
- What did you love to do as a kid? Were there hobbies that captured your attention then or even now? Why? What keeps you from this now? What will it take to do it?!!
Yes, even if you feel you don’t have a creative bone in your body, getting creative will open up the flow of your own creative energy.
Tapping into this isn’t about creating a masterpiece, it’s about getting a flow of energy moving that feeds your ability to connect with your vision, your desires and your ability to create what is truly aligned to you at a soul level.
So play. This can look like all kinds of things. Here are a few ideas:
- Arrange flowers
- Play with your kids — imagine/improvise
- Rearrange your furniture
Truth is, your energy is in a rut.
If you’re one of the many people walking around feeling as though you are so ready for something new in your daily work life, but have no clue as to what that would be or how to go get it, the starting place is to open the flow of energy around your own creativity.
That’s a second chakra thing. And your second chakra also holds the energetic ability to guide you to what feels good to you, what you want to say yes to, and that you are safe and Ok to do it.
There may be all kinds of old beliefs and past experiences that play into this, so do your inner work. But get into your own creative flow. Go there first before you start trying to decide on what job is next for you. Once your own true energy is flowing, you’ll have a much easier time finding that desire of yours.
“Work” is shifting for people. You may be hearing the call for more soulful work yourself.
The Universe is asking you to step into your passion — and your power — and make it so. As you do, you will move forward in your own spiritual evolution and offer your gifts to the world. That’s a win-win!
