Being sustainable and making ethical consumer choices has been a driver in my life for the last ten years and although this is getting easier as global awareness of the impact we are having on the planet is growing, it is still even easier not to do this.

I am excited and encouraged by the constant stream of great news stories on social media about plastic being banned and straws being vetoed. It demonstrates to me that more and more people are beginning to understand that it is us and our choices that are having the most devastating impact on our global eco-system. There is no other species on the planet that is consciously destroying its habitat. Only us and we are so desensitised to this that we don’t really realise the consequences.

People that are aware are still talking about sustainability but if we sustain our current consumption and choices we will destroy our ability to survive and thrive on this planet. My belief is that once we are gone Earth will slowly but surely rejuvenate, it is arrogant to believe that we humans can destroy the world. We are only impacting our ability to live in it. To ensure our survival and that of future generations we need to go beyond sustainability and work collaboratively to restore and rejuvenate the eco-system.

With the throw-away, fast paced consumer mindset we have developed, this as a first step needs to be made easy for people. This is why we have created Beyond Bamboo®.

Beyond Bamboo® is a global market place developed to deliver on our Global Goal of Environmental Rejuvenation. We would like it to become an ethical alternative for online shopping and provide beautiful products in one place that go beyond sustainability or are working with our support towards this.

Beyond Bamboo® empowers people to make conscious, ethical consumer choices without the hassle of visiting multiple websites and having to delve into tons of research. We have provided this for buyers to look into in one place. All of our products have been sourced from suppliers that are working towards going beyond sustainable and ethical and are focused on people, planet and profit.

To make everything even more transparent we have created a ‘Look Behind The Label Button’ for each product or partner so that buyers can see the details for themselves and feel even more excited about their purchases and the good that they are doing.

We have also created a ‘Near You’ area for finding food, supplies and products in physical shopping locations and also ideas for upcyling and exchanges. The Knowledge area of the site is full of links to videos and websites that provide beyond sustainable advice and our project page details opportunities to donate rather than to buy.

It can be easy to make choices that make a difference. We are using any profits from Beyond Bamboo to fund our philanthropic Global Goal Projects.
