Keep reinventing yourself to be an impactful leader

Before you are a leader success is all about growing yourself. Once you are a leader success is all about growing others. — Jack Welch

From being a skinny boy who started a career in his teenage years to becoming the leader of a profitable company, life has been a super exciting ride for me. Throughout my career, growth has been the only thing that’s stayed constant. I started my career as a trainer in a computer institute, and today I’m leading ProofHub — throughout the journey I’ve had to adorn many hats. And, I continue to do even today.

“Want to become a leader who gets things done? If yes, then stop using email to manage work and switch to ProofHub.

I’ve been a leader for more than a decade now. But, no two years have been same. That’s what I love about my life- you get to live so many lives in one. I’ve worked as a designer, a coder, a marketing guy, even the person who fixes the fans when they are not working.

Every day for me is about learning something new myself — and I simply love it!

Why it’s important to reinvent yourself?

There are plenty of obvious reasons that make it important for a leader to keep reinventing himself. Here’s a look at some of the major ones:

It keeps you in the game

Life keeps changing. And, I believe that every day brings an opportunity to discover something new about yourself. If you embrace this opportunity with arms wide open, your perspective of looking at things will change. This new perspective is going to bring new vigor, and new zeal to achieve more every single day.

Isn’t this something that every leader wants to achieve? As a matter of fact, isn’t this something that we all want to achieve in life? So, the most important reason to keep reinventing yourself is to ensure that life doesn’t become stagnant.

It gives you the positivity

Things may work, things may not but if you will keep looking at every passing day with the same perspective you are bound to be crippled by negativity. This is the reason reinventing yourself from time to time becomes important.

By keeping an open mind and open perspective, every becomes an opportunity to grow and succeed. You start to look each day with new possibilities and new hopes, even when things are not going your way. This brings the positivity and strength a leader needs not only to push himself but also keep the team motivated and in high spirits as well.

It helps you push your limits

The only limits in life are the ones you make. If you want to become a leader with limitless energy, reinventing yourself is the key. You cannot remain confined to a typical schedule, doing the same things every single day to become a limitless leader. By reinventing different aspects of your personality, you can make way for new opportunities in life. And, when those opportunities will knock at the door you will realize your true potential.

Reinventing yourself as a leader gives you an opportunity to not only grow at personal level, but also inspire the team to discover new growth opportunities. And, this is what makes a great leader.

It redefines who you are

As mentioned in the above point, the only limits in life are the ones you make. By being a leader who keeps reinventing his or her personality, you are redefining yourself and your goals from time to time. This is important because you need to shift your focus from one thing to the other, once you achieve that thing.

Sticking to just one thing gives you a one-dimensional approach, which won’t let you grow.

It ensures that you don’t get bored

No matter what you do, how creative you are and how much you love doing what you do, if you don’t keep reinventing yourself boredom of doing the same thing over and over again is going to get to you. Boredom comes from a boring mind — a mind that has started to think only in one direction.

Reinventing personality ensures that you are always brimming with fresh ideas, and your thinking does not stale. You can always bring that new perspective forward for the team to learn from. And, that’s how both the business as well as the team grows.

In the end, it’s all about growth

A leader is only as good as his or her vision to grow, and keep the team together during this growth. If you want to be recognized as one such leader, the best way to do it is by reinventing yourself, learning new skills and striving to become better each day.

I’ve been trying to do the same for all these years. Being a leader for close to 11 years I’ve learned how important it is to grow and evolve with every passing. If you won’t, you will be left behind in the crowd just like an ordinary leader. But, if you want to become a leader who made an impact, you need to reinvent a new person in you at every possible moment.
