Podcasts what can they do for you?

Podcasting is quickly becoming an important part of building your own brand. Think about it, do you listen to a podcast, why? Is it the content, or is it the person giving you the content? In this day and age you can look almost anything up with just the click of a mouse. So why should someone listen to you, why should they get their information from your platforms? Well here are 3 tips to help you create a killer podcast that also helps build your personal brand.

What does you audience want?

(tip from podcast guru Jay Wong!)

When you are creating a podcast it is not only important to be true to yourself, but you also have to think about who your audience is, and what they are listening for. Just like any time you are putting out content, you want to make sure that the consumer gets value out of what you are putting out. Here are a few questions you want to ask yourself when creating content

· What subject do I want to talk about today?

· What value can I provide to my audience on this subject?

· How can I make the content more entertaining?

· What does my audience expect to hear from me?

Asking yourself questions like this can help to create content that you enjoy putting out, as well as content that listeners enjoy hearing. The second part of understanding what your listeners want to hear is actually listening. Read the comments and suggestions, and use those to fuel your show and keep it interesting. You can also ask thought provoking questions that get your audience thinking and commenting at the end of each show.

value that can help your audience. What are your products and services, what

Be willing to become a leader

Understand that sound isn’t like traditional platforms; your listeners aren’t just sitting down and watching videos, or sitting and reading articles. Podcasts are something your audience can take with you, to the gym, listen to while you’re cleaning, or in the car. Podcasts are something that can go along to very personal moments in your audience lives. This means people will be more vulnerable and more likely to listen to what you have to say. When people think that they know who you are, you are more likely to become a leader in their eyes.

· Where do you want to lead people?

· Who do you want with this podcast?

· Why are you creating a podcast?

Try to build content that your audience can take away and actually build their business or brand up, you don’t want people to listen and not get anything out of it. When you have a podcast that doesn’t offer anything to the listener, it is much easier to stop listening all together.

Brand you podcast, brand yourself

Can you guess what the most important part of your podcast is? It’s you! The voice that the audience is hearing is yours, the ideas that the audience is hearing is also yours, and the person that the listeners are tuning in to hear is… you. When someone listens to you they don’t want to hear generic or basic information given to them like a practiced speech. They could go to books, or an actual speech if they wanted to just get the information. People want to be entertained, they want to hear the content from people that they actually feel like they know. So it’s so important to remember to be yourself, and be the person you want brand to reflect. What should you ask yourself to brand your podcast?

· What do I want my brand to say?

· What is my why?

· Who do I want to impact with this podcast?

Understanding what your why is, is important to understanding everything about your business, who you want to impact, what you want your brand to say, and where you want to go in the future. Make sure to think about your why, and your mission statement, and share them with your audience so they know you better.

Building a killer podcast is a great way to supercharge your personal branding, remembering these three tips can help make it easier for you to accomplish. Making sure your content is valuable, creative, and entertaining is going to make sure you can get and keep your audience listening to your podcast. Sound can be a great way to reach your audience and give your audience a look behind the curtain and a feel of personal connection to you. In the wise words of Jay Wong “ I may not have the relationships, I may not have the knowledge, I may not have certain things, but I am ready to make the switch.” Make sure you are ready to supercharge your business, personal brand, and podcast!
