My Intention to Stay Present in the Moment

Learning to accept rather than react.

It can seem in life that we are always on a quest for something else. Something different than who we are or what we have now. If we just had more money or less weight gain. Different work responsibilities, more free time, less house chores. The always wanting something different, even just a little different, leaves us in a constant state of wanting instead of a constant state of contentment. We can teach ourselves to be content without having to settle. Learn to appreciate where we are now while also envisioning where we’d like to be in the future. Not fight the moment.

Not fighting the moment is easy to recommend when the moment feels easy like right now for me writing while my house is quiet. Throw in a deadline, financial and family stress, and other challenges and it is hard not to yell or go silent. To not be doubtful or lose faith in the moment.

When I woke up this morning and stayed in bed a bit snuggling with my dog (yes, we spoil him), I set my intention for this day, which is our kitchen demo day. I intend to be present in the moment. Not scattered looking at all of the things to be done and then feeling the panic. Stress quickly travels from mind to body so I know I need to keep my mind calm and present.

Sometimes I am able to bring patience and grace to difficult moments and other times I react and take on the stress.
