So You Want to Be A Coach On Fire
Master These Three Things to Become One
“Mastering others is strength; mastering yourself is true power.” — Lao Tzu
I recently had the pleasure of being featured on Coach On Fire Radio Network with the lovely Mina Velani. I was expecting good conversation and a pre-recorded podcast style talk, but it turned out to be a live and profound event.
We shared our stories, and talked about our message and mission, and why it’s so important to actually be a coach on fire. Meaning, a coach who stands for something and operates from a place of purpose and completeness.
A coach who thrives off helping others and who doesn’t back down from who she truly is. That’s a coach on fire (in my own definition).
I was surprised to learn that just two years ago Mina was diagnosed with a brain tumor that changed her world. She’s an accountant by trade, but she didn’t want to keep living that life after that news. She had a different Mina inside, and she chose to pursue it to find her purpose, growth and expansion into a better version of herself.
Her story was incredibly inspiring, and I soon realized just why our paths had corssed. I related to her in many ways as I am sure a lot of women entrepreneurs can. Like me, she was stuck at a successful JOB, doing what she thought she had to do and not what she really wanted to do.
It’s funny how life knows exactly what to throw at us to get us moving, to make the scary changes and push ourselves beyond the walls we created to keep us safe.
After sharing my entrepreneurial journey with her, she asked me three great questions that led to a powerful discussion I think everyone that’s thinking about or is already a coach, mentor, consultant, or any other service-based professional working with with others on a deep and intimate level of transformation — needs to hear this.
Often times, we get caught up in buzz words, trends and the stories we tell ourselves about how it should all be and what we are required to do, when really?
All we have to do is listen to the only voice that will never lead us astray: our intuition. And unleash what our genius inside was born to do.
Follow along with the replay here. The three questions that drove our powerful conversation were:
How to unlock and unleash your message and mission:
Unlock your message by analyzing what core parts of your being you are filtering, surprising and/or hiding. For example, if you are a spiritual person every day of your life, when no one is watching.
But when you show up for your service-based business you hide that part of who you are, your energy, work and state will be off because your unconscious knows you’re not being true to yourself.
What have I been holding back? What am I hiding? What am I filtering? You have the answers within. It’s your responsibility to do what serves you.
The unleashing part should happen simultaneously. Don’t dig deep and figure out what’s been holding you back, and then do nothing about it. Unleash it unto the world. If it pisses you off enough, let it out. Share your story.
Everything you have been through has been preparing you for what you asked for. Do the work, own your truth, and surrender to the outcome.
Why serving and selling from a place of purpose is the only way to walk this entrepreneur.
As an entrepreneur that influences and serves others, you have to understand with every bone in your body that selling is a service. The way you get there is by realizing that it’s not your job to convince anyone or negotiate with anyone. It’s your job to share your story, lessons learned, and your message to the world.
When you show up for yourself and for others from a place of purpose, knowing completely who you are and why you are here, everything else falls into place. Even the money.
The 3 things you can do today to own your power and do what you were born to do.
a. Make Mindset a Daily Habit: If you’re not doing something every day to upgrade your thinking and belief patters and feed your mind, start. If you are but you’ve been inconsistent, get it together, lady!
Yes, everyone knows mindset is everything, but in my experience most people (especially entrepreneurs who should know better) are not consistent with their mindset efforts.
b. Take Action Daily: Choose at least one thing to start that is high priority for you each day and complete it. If you want to take it a step further and make it a habit, reward yourself something you love only when you complete that task. One thing will turn into two and so on.
c. Give Yourself Time: Most people want to run before they can walk. But the result is unrealistic expectations and more feelings of failure and loss. Instead, train yourself to remember that if you are doing all you can do with where you are right now, that is ENOUGH.
My mission, and from what I can tell, Mina’s mission is also to help people heal and succeed by showing them that no matter what you go through in life, you are enough. You can come back and you can restart as many times as you need to in search of the best version of yourself.
You can achieve personal excellence as per your real definition at any point in your life. It’s never too late to go after your dreams.
Who you are is enough to live the life you want to live and do the things you want to do. But you’ve got to be real and raw about what you bring to the table because if you want it all, you have to give your all to be a coach on fire.
