Stop Focusing On The Destination
“Be happy for this moment. This moment is your life.”
— Omar Khayyam
Too often we get caught up in the idea that if we can just reach our destination everything will be better.
But we’re missing the point.
The point is the journey.
Not the destination.
The point is the here and now.
Not the there and then.
Yet we still cling to the idea that if we can just get there everything will be different.
It must be.
It has to be.
The journey becomes a hit and hope, hail mary pass or mad dash to the finish line in an attempt to get to the destination as quickly as humanly.
At the expense of everything else you turn your back on your life, falsely believing it will still be there when you’re done.
But time knows no bounds, it marches on irrespective of what you want or how you feel.
All the while you’re blinded by the hopeful promise of the destination, ignoring the journey…ignoring life.
And for what?
To chase an ideal that you’ve been told you need to chase?
To live up to someone else’s idea of success?
By focusing on the destination you neglect what’s truly important.
You should love every step and every second, not desperately need to be at the end.
Be present in the moment.
Be present in your life.
Forge your own path and live up to your own ideals.
Stop pinning your hopes, dreams and happiness on someone else’s ideals that you mistake as your own.
Create your own journey and consciously take every step.
“Not everyone will understand your journey. That’s ok. You’re here to live life not to make everyone understand.”
