The 3 Cs of Building a 6-Figure Business
Building a 6-figure business CAN be simple, and I’m going to show you how.
Let me introduce you to the 3 Cs that are the driving force behind everything in my 6-figure business. I think that if you start to apply them yourself, they can simplify your business, too. And we know that simplicity helps to breed consistency, which is exactly what you need to keep showing up for your dream business day in and day out.
Core #1: Coaching
Coaching is my primary avenue of service to my clients and the source of the majority of my income. If you’re not a coach, just substitute in whatever else your biggest money-making task is (designing websites, managing social media accounts, selling products, etc.)
This “C” comes first because happy clients are kinda the whole point, right? So my #1 priority is supporting them. And guess what? It’s far more economical and efficient to re-sign an existing, satisfied client than to bring on new ones. I prioritize these relationships first and show up for them 100%.
What did I do before I had a full roster of paying clients, you might wonder?
I’m so glad you asked!
I served and honed my coaching skills by offering free coaching calls, where I’d help potential clients get clarity on the next best step for them in their business right then. After I helped them, if I thought they were someone I could help further, I offered them my paid services.
This worked super-well to accomplish a few different things: to get my name out there, to connect me to potential clients, to help me get clear on the themes that were important to my potential clients, and to build my confidence that I could, in fact help them with ease.
If you are not daily prioritizing your biggest income-producing task, then there’s a good chance you’re wasting your time on “business-related tasks” that seem important, but in actuality are getting you nowhere.
Core #2: Creating Content
I also prioritize time for content creation for my audience, to teach, give value, and to help them know me better, so that they can know if working together is right for them.
This includes, but is not limited to, time spent crafting Facebook & Instagram posts, pumping out newsletters, recording livestreams and interviews, drafting articles, developing opt-ins and writing my book.
Now, before you get overwhelmed or think, “I could never give that much away for free! I don’t have the time or energy!” — remember that I started my business with exactly ONE of these things. For me it was an opt-in, but I actually recommend you do it better than me and start by creating posts that build relationships FIRST.
Now I have a team of people who help me be CONSISTENTLY visible in all of the places where I have a presence, so that people can hear from me and know if my services are for them — and we repurpose and reuse everything!
Start keeping track of your content in a Google Doc or Sheet as you create it. No, you don’t have to obsessively go back and pull together everything you’ve ever created right.this.minute (not that I would know anything about that)…you can just start where you are with what you’re making, today, then once you’re in the habit, go back and pull it together a little bit at a time.
Core #3: Connecting
As an introvert, I’ve always been a “deep relationship” kind of person, and I’ve found that there’s such power and business-building energy that comes from connecting with the people you admire and want to get to know better!
This used to be something I didn’t make time for, telling myself I was “too busy” and needed to focus only on sales calls.
But what I’ve found is, when you find someone you feel a connection to, and you reach out to form a friendship with them, you begin to develop a support network and some of those people will become your biggest fans, and referral & lead sources — not to mention the people you can text when you’re having a meltdown!
We are wired for connection, and entrepreneurship isn’t something we often share with our closest “in-person” friends and family, so it can be a lonely road unless we cultivate relationships with those walking the same one.
Start today by valuing and making time for those relationships and connections.
These 3 core elements have been foundational to building my 6-figure business. Now that you’ve seen how they actually play out in my day-to-day work, how are you going to apply these concepts to YOUR business?
