The Deep Web

Let the reality of evil fuel your longing to be change in the world

Romans 12:9 “ Let love be without hypocrisy. Detest evil; cling to what is good.”

Recently I became interested in something many of you do not know about. It is called the deep web. I have known a little bit about it for a while and became curious about what goes on there. I am still a noob when it comes to explaining it and understanding it but I will give you an idea. The deep web is what is underneath the surface layers of the websites you visit everyday. What we see on websites we visit is only about 3% of what is actually there. There is so much more to the web that we do not know exists. 97% more… The government created the deep web to be able to work anonymously with classified things. A part of the deep web is called the dark web, which is a place where banks and other companies can hide your information they store so that it cannot be stolen easily. It all makes sense right?

I really almost regret reading into this stuff. The deep web is made to be pure freedom, being able to use the internet without anyone being able to know what you are doing. We all know google tracks us and many other companies track us and see our every move so the deep web was made for that not to be an issue. You cannot access the deep web without certain browsers like Tor and others that will keep you anonymous and hidden. Still you have to be very careful what you click in the deep web because hackers galore are on it constantly. People always say to cover your mic or webcam when you go on there because hackers will access them. It is a dangerous place if you don’t know what you are doing.

The deep web is a great freedom, but if you research it and look into what is going on in the deep web, you will be very troubled. Since you can act anonymously on the deep web, it has been filled with the most evil and vile things imaginable. People auctioning off sex slaves, ISIS recruiters, Hardcore drug sales. That isn’t even near the evil that I read about. This place is the FBI’s worst night mare because it is so hard to locate and catch anyone on there. Some of the worst things I read about was the child pedophilia websites where men upload videos of their children being sexually abused or children that have been kidnapped and also videos of people who torture people on camera and the people watching pay money to control what the man does to the person getting killed. And many many people watch that stuff, not just a few here and there. My spirit has been deeply troubled by the things I read happening. Those poor children. The people doing the acts can’t be caught because on the deep web you are anonymous and your location and IP address can’t be gotten easily. They just simply get away with it at the expense of a childs innocence or someone’s life. I cannot stop thinking about this and how much I wish I could do something about it, save children, catch evil criminals, something.

My buddy was telling me about one man up in Huntsville near where he lives got caught being a part of a child pedophilia website on the deep web. It wasn’t people far off that are underground, it was some guy that was popular on Youtube that lived a couple of hours from me that no one thought anything of. Many of the people on the deep web doing these things you would never think anything of.

The reality of this has hit me like a train these past few days. I feel troubled. I feel helpless. I feel like there is nothing I can do. I feel such a deep love for those children being abused in the worst ways possible on the deep web. Who will grow up with the worst memories possible along with major mental problems. I have just been praying constantly about it. There is no hope when you look at it.

I opened Romans 12 last night just to get the word in me and the very last verse of that chapter was exactly what I needed and the Lord knew that. Romans 12:21 “ Do not be conquered by evil, but conquer evil with good.” Over the past couple of days I felt conquered, like there was absolutely nothing that could be done in the reality of this evil, but God’s word says otherwise.

My point in all of this is that there is much evil around us everyday, hidden in the dark, and God calls us to conquer evil by doing good. So not only let doing good overflow from your heart and Christ, but let the reality of evil fuel your doing good. You never know how acts of kindness and goodness and love could change someone's heart. And since a lot of evil is hidden in the dark, you could be planting a seed that God would grow in a very dark heart. You could be showing love to a child who has gone through the worst things imaginable and that could bring hope into their heart for the first time ever. Now that does not mean we can tackle all the evil in the world, but day by day the people of Christ loving and lighting the world can make a major impact.

Instead of thinking about getting revenge like I was, pursue being like Christ. That is where the change in the world will come from. Romans 12:19 “ Friends, do not avenge yourselves; instead, leave room for God’s wrath, because it is written, vengeance belongs to me; I will repay says the Lord.”

Don’t turn a blind eye to the evil in this world today. Don’t look away and only focus on your life. Let that evil create a burning desire to be change. To love well. To care for others. To pray for the burdens of those being hurt so bad. To be Christ-like in this world of evil and darkness. That is what is needed more than anything, Christ followers to be the Light in the darkness. The city on a hill. You and I can make a bigger difference than we can imagine by pursuing that because God is on our side. He will give us strength and ability, He will hold us up with His righteous right hand, and He will grow seeds that are planted in love and kindness. We can trust fully in Him.

1 Corinthians 3:6 “I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow.”

Romans 8:31 “If God is for us, who can be against us?”

Galatians 6:9 “ And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.”

Micah 6:8 “ He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?”

Isaiah 1:17 “ Learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow’s cause.”
