THE PATH TO HEALTH, HAPPINESS AND INNER PEACE

This 7th of April is World Health Day, and I would like us to reflect on the importance of health, not only physical but spiritual. And, more importantly, how it can help you achieve happiness and inner peace.

Health is an issue that concerns us all — not just as individuals but as a society. The quality of health we enjoy dictates the quality of our lives. Unfortunately, there are people who live condemned lives because of their poor health. How many times do we see someone who lives in a state of low energy, full of guilt and resentment, simply because they were given a bad diagnosis? We must realize that behind each disease (and poor health) there is a blessing and a lesson. The worst thing we can do is worry about ill health or to let it turn ourselves into victims.

When a doctor tells you that you have an illness, the first thing you should do is say “thank you,” then release it, telling the sickness “I love you.” We must understand that health problems, in reality, are accumulated memories from our past replaying in the subconscious mind. That is why you do not have to resist. Remember, what you resist, persists. The best way to deal with a disease is to relax, breathe and release.

Pain is a sign that there is something we must change. Sometimes the body needs to let go, and it does so through pain or discomfort. I know it is natural to worry about our sickness. We think it’s bad luck or our destiny. In doing so, we make things worse, unaware that things can change. Of course, this depends on our attitude towards life and all its challenges. One can choose to move on no matter what illness one has. Do not engage and you will realize that there is a solution to every problem. There is always a blessing behind. Some learning and growing up to do.

Imagine that you are going down a road; you run into the disease, observe it and let it go. Go around your disease as the river does when it finds a rock. Remember that even when you are not in good health, you can choose to be happy and at peace. Most of the time diseases are a sign of what we are thinking. When we change our thoughts, we change everything, and please know that if you are thinking, you are living in the past.

It is also wise to remember that good health and peace is brought about by physical activity. Sport is a vehicle for social interaction and a clear incentive to feel good and be healthy. It is no coincidence that World Health Day lands on the same day as the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace.

If we can all understand that physical activity is not just a hobby, but also a way to obtain a better quality of life, it will help us to feel good about ourselves. I like to think of sport as jogging towards peace — a step towards happiness and liberation from old memories. It is letting go and moving forward.

While I was on my 2019 tour through Mexico and Colombia (where I shared my teachings on Ho’oponopono, Zero Frequency® and The Easiest Way to Peace, Happiness, and Abundance), I found exercising gave me the strength and energy to share more love. It always makes me feel good when I know that I am taking good care of myself. I cannot give what I do not have. None of us can.

This last trip also helped me to share another important aspect related to health: the addiction to food. It is an addiction that happens to many of us — one that allows us to understand emotional pain more. Many of us waste too much energy and valuable time thinking about food all the time. This is caused by several factors, including stress, anxiety, and suffering.

Of course, we have to work on this addiction and have patience with ourselves. There is a series of steps that you can follow to leave food addiction behind. It mainly consists of making your behavior conscious — how you do it and why. This is followed by being willing to sit down with your feelings. Do not be afraid of them. Ho’oponopono, the ancient Hawaiian art of problem-solving, and your work with your inner child (your subconscious mind) could help a lot. Your inner child is the part of you that handles both your physical and emotional lives.

Health is a total state of physical, mental, and spiritual well-being, and not just the absence of disease or illness. Having health means being in balance, at peace with ourselves, and always grateful for what we have instead of what we think we lack.

I hope that everyone, including myself, can reflect and work for better health and well-being, understanding that if we are happy, in peace and health, the world will be too.
