THIS might be my biggest money lesson of 2017…

(And yes, it involves working less and making more.)

Recently over in my Facebook community, we’ve gotten a little more up close and personal about all things money + hustle…or at least I have.

There’ve been some lessons from this entrepreneurial journey that I’ve been feeling called to share more about, but just wasn’t sure how/when/where to talk about it.

Buuuuuuuuut, then I realized that all that was a part of the lesson too.

You see, 2017 has brought me a lot of lessons to learn (some easy and some…well…you know). Both in my biz and personally (even though it’s all the same, right?).

And the biggest lesson for me hands-down has been to let go of the hustle and to trust that what I want (in my biz, in my relationships, in my day-to-day) can come to me, without me having to shed all the blood, sweat, and tears along the way.

As sure as the day is long, I’m a hustler (and no, not in the Mafia kind of way). Working is easy for me. NOT working is what’s 10,000x times harder.

It’s in my blood…it’s how I was raised…it’s what I know. And let’s be honest, it’s gotten me results. But, let’s get real…these are all just stories. I’M the one in charge of my results and how hard I have to work to get there. And so are you.

Which is why I’ve started sharing these lessons with my community…because I know I’m not the only one who feels this way (where my hustlers, my perfectionists, my controllers at?). *Raises both hands.*

AND because I’ve seen my biz take off even faster the more I’ve stepped back and surrendered more (did I mention that I’ve made more money and worked less in the last month than ever before in my biz?).

Don’t get me wrong…there’ll always be times where your biz and life require you to hustle. I’m not saying everything should always feel like roses and butterflies. ’Cause that’s not realistic either.

But let’s ditch the never-ending hustle and push, shall we?

BIG HUSTLE LESSON OF 2017: Taking action isn’t about MAKING things happen, it’s about creating opportunities for things to happen and generally doing your part. What I mean by this is that if we set out to DO as a way to ensure/make/force a result, it’s always going to be a lot harder — both in the way it feels and to actually see the result.

REAL TALK: Not only am I a major action-taker, but I’m also pretty cause-and-effect. And honestly? Before starting my own biz, I was used to making things happen by sheer hard work and will. An old mindset of mine — → hard work = you get what you want. Plain and simple. Well, we all know that a service-based start-up doesn’t always work like that.

WHAT TO LET GO OF: Thinking you can “make” things happen. Don’t get me wrong, success is one part hard work and one part mindset, but it’s also one part faith and trust. Which means, you need all 3 pieces and not just more of one or the other.

HOW THIS IMPACT YOUR SALES: Sometimes visibility takes awhile. Sometimes marketing takes awhile. Sometimes traction and momentum and sales all just take awhile in your biz. No matter how hard you work or how many hours you put in or how bad you want it. And the more we can lean into this truth, the better we feel about ourselves and the progress we’re making in our biz, which always translates to feeling better about making offers and asking for the sale.
