Throat

Give up control to open your throat chakra.

Chakras are like ‘energetic centers’ for our body. Each is said to have a specific color and brightness. When one is blocked, it’s thought we have limitations related to the purpose of this chakra. When it comes to the throat, this often means we have trouble trusting our path, giving up control, and believing will-power is ‘not’ the answer.

  • Do you clear your throat a lot?
  • Hesitate to speak at times?
  • Struggle with addiction?
  • Find faith difficult?
  • When you want to do something, do you think perseverance is the best plan? (vs trusting your path)
  • Do you find yourself wanting to control others?
  • Would you say you are in complete control of your life?

If you’ve answered ‘yes’ to any of the above questions, it’s worth investigating. Personally, I’ve learned the throat chakra is my biggest limitation, and it’s rooted in my inability to control my mother’s health. While I consciously realize it’s not possible for me to control my mother’s health, I’ve made a scholastic and professional-level effort throughout my life to help.

In the end, her health is not subject to my control. Only mine is. The rest comes down to:

  • How she feels
  • What she eats
  • How much and ‘how’ she moves
  • How she thinks
  • Her genes
  • Her spirit
  • Her social surroundings
  • Her habits and hobbies

Assuming I have the perfect answer to solve anyone’s health, the point is that it’s not up to me. It’s up to each person, on an individual level. Gaining access to the right information — or method — is only one, tiny piece. ‘Doing’ the work, and admitting what needs work, well, that’s the hard part.

Compliance is what leads to improved health. Not a faster way to lose weight, a quick trick to feel happy when you’re sad, or a financially successful career.

And, since I know this, I know that my mother’s health is not subject to my control. A certain amount has been chosen for her, and the rest is up to her, and her alone.

As I learn to give up control in this area I lack ability, I open my throat, allow myself to love more deeply, and feel more happy. As I admit I’m not able to control another person’s life, no matter how loving my intentions are, I gain power; not lose it.

True power is in that which is greater than us. Learn to tap into it, balance your internal environment, and emit love.

Today’s lesson:

give up control. It’s an illusion anyway.

I’m so grateful for you,

Kareem
