Our friends are more like family members.

We have known them for over a decade. This means we have seen each other begin marriages, have children, change careers, and relocate while still maintaining common interests.

Lifestyle changes have not altered our friendships because our bond is truly with the people and not with their circumstances. A lot of people have a large group of friends however most of them are tied to contingencies. If some portion of the status they had is lost, more than likely the friends go with it too.

Although we don’t have a lot of friends, the ones we have are bonds with very strong roots that last years.

Benefits of Having Quality Friendships

Here’s a few benefits for maintaining meaningful friendships:

  • The beauty of true friends is they will tell you like it is, but from a good place in their heart.
  • Our social bonds have been scientifically proven to help us live longer, possibly due in part to the healthy influences they have on our daily behaviors.
  • Reports show that friendship can “increase your sense of belonging and purpose, boost your happiness, reduce stress, improve your self-worth, [and] help you cope with traumas, such as divorce, serious illness, job loss or the death of a loved one.
