What Is Your Definition Of Success?

What is your definition of success? Is it followers? Likes? Salary increases? Bonuses? Is it moments you felt proud? It is finishing something? Is it starting something? Is it times your children inspired you? Is it the ability to travel? Is it buying your own home? Is it selling your life story?

The definition is different for all of us. The one thing that matters is that it’s something that doesn’t disappoint us once attained.

As Irish playwright and political activist George Bernard Shaw said, “There are two tragedies in life. One is to lose your heart’s desire. The other is to gain it.”

Sometimes the grass isn’t greener on the other side.

You can be rich in money, in time, in loved ones, in opportunities, in health, or in perspective.

Some people are idealistic and think they can change the world. Others are cynical and think they can change nothing.

But life is more exciting when you think anything is possible. Because most of the time you’re right.

People without connections win elections. People without money write a blockbuster book or movie. People without a positive diagnosis continue to thrive. People defined by the system as not smart enough create the solution, earn the degree, and disrupt the status quo.

Success is decided by the person on the journey. Decide what it looks like for you. Because if you are going by someone else’s definition, you are living someone else’s life. And then no one is living yours.
