What to Do When People Misunderstand You
WHY SILENCE IS GOLDEN SOMETIMES.
Has it ever happened to you that when you tried to help someone, they accuse you of ulterior motives? Has it ever happened to you that when you were honest with someone, when you were trying to speak the truth, people did not understand you or sometimes they even got offended, annoyed or be angry at you?
If these ever happened to you, trust me, you are not alone. So I have similar situations happened to me a few times in the past months and I found it kind of interesting how we misunderstand each other so much and so easily.
The funny thing is that you cannot really argue with them that they are wrong because it is their perceptions, and hence their realities, there are just so many layers of realities, so many layers of consciousness.
Depending on their perceptions and the levels of consciousness, they are right — whether you see a glass of water is half full or half empty, you are both right.
In this world, people justify all sorts of things as right, they justify war as right, killing as right, massacring animals as right. From their perceptions, they believe in it, so they are right.
One thing they might forget is that there are so many perceptions. One situation can be interpreted a thousand ways. It is certainly different from my perception, his or her perception. So your perception is only one view, it is only your reality, it does not mean that it is the same as mine or other people’s.
Sometimes I do not feel like explaining myself too much, a lot of time I choose to be silent because silence is indeed golden sometimes. Your limited time and energy are just so precious on this earth. When you try to direct your time and energy on explaining yourself, sometimes it may magnify the matters and make things worse.
When you are at a different level of frequency and consciousness, it is sometimes quite difficult to convey the message through, if they do not understand you as they do not vibrate at the same frequency. Sometimes I prefer to even apologise for things I did not do or certainly was not my intention, instead of wasting my precious time and energy on trivial matters to explain myself.
If people misunderstand you or accuse you of whatever reasons, I encourage you do not feel upset or even angry because your time and energy are just so precious. You want to direct your time and energy to things that matter to you the most.
Furthermore, one thing you need to understand is that the blame or accusation is simply a reflection of the accuser, not you. Some people can only see the negative aspect of any situation, maybe they have a mental disorder or had a rough childhood or life, and you know that it is not true, so do not buy into their belief system.
Do not let things like this affect you so much, in fact, do not let anything affect you. As long as you know that it is not true, it is certainly not your intention then that is enough, and always try to be kind and compassionate if possible. Knowing that the accusers have their own personal issues that they cannot find joy within, hence they have to always blame on someone.
Here I would like to share with you one of my favourite quotes from Mother Teresa:
“People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered. Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies. Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you. Be honest and sincere anyway.
What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight. Create anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous. Be happy anyway.
The good you do today, will often be forgotten. Do good anyway.
Give the best you have, and it will never be enough. Give your best anyway.
In the final analysis, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.”
So dear ones, in the end, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.
Always be love and light.
