What’s Your Message?
I was sitting down doing some message clarity and well thought about the “megaphone exercise” that a mentor I invested in shared with her tribe. (Shout out to Katrina Ruth)
I cleared my mind, grabbed pen to paper and the words poured out me — I admit I still have to expand even more on this as I continue my growth and journey.
Life is a journey, not a destination Ralph Waldo Emerson
I wanted to share with all of you, me owning my voice, owning my power and while I am not a traditional business coach any longer — I have my eagle wings and have stepped into the place that lights me up — I can soar and feel the wind lift me up — thank you for such a great exercise… simple and yet so powerful.
Here is: What’s My Message?
Your time is right now, today not tomorrow, next week, or next year. You have a story to tell, a message to share and I believe it should be told. You do not have to be the silent one in the room. Stand up, share your message, shout it from the rooftops, let the world hear your voice and know your name.
Be Seen. Be Heard. Be Known. Be Fearless. Be Unstoppable. & BE YOU!
As a GenX woman in a small town where family generations averaged 4 to 6 living at any given time. My friends parents went to school with my parents, and their parents with my grandparents. Hell, I live in a town where a part is named after my great grandfather, my mother’s childhood home is now a historical museum that myself and my children visited on a school field trip and everyone knew what family name I belonged to.
Unlike my siblings and cousins, I was known as the “problem child” I always asked questions, wanted to know why I was supposed to do certain things or act a certain way. Why couldn’t I be me? Why was I being compared to my sisters or cousins?
No woman should ever feel they aren’t good enough, worthy enough, safe enough if they speak out. You have a story, you have a message, and you have a purpose. You’re here for a reason and now it’s time to be the change.
Be the change in your life, your business, and the change in the lives and business you encounter. Do not sit silently in the corner waiting for the next Hollywood Scandal to hashtag your way into the spotlight. Stop living life in a reactive mode and start taking action.
Grab the bull by the horns, step into your spotlight, share your story, your message and let your voice be heard.
Your time is now, right now. Will you be the change?
What if tomorrow never came? Why risk that chance and deprive the world, the lives, the businesses that can be impacted by your gifts?
I want to share a story with you about a guy I went to school with. He was the bad boy, the rebel, in my world he was my version of James Dean. He never knew who I was. Never gave me the time of day and I did speak to him a couple times but then I moved away.
20+ years later he would read an article I wrote and send me a message about reading my story from beginning to end that when he saw my name he remembered me from school and he had no idea how my life had turned out.
We talked back and forth and laughed, jokes, talked about be being an entrepreneur, he a small business owner of a painting company. It was like butterflies all over again of the teenage crush and he was impressed by me?
A few days after one of our conversations he tells me he is in the hospital that he had a heart attack, he’d be okay but man what a scare that was. I went to visit him at the hospital and even offered to give him a ride home if he needed one when he was released. He said his sister was going to pick him up.
He left the hospital on a Sunday we spoke the next day around 1 in the afternoon. He said he wasn’t feeling good and was going to lay down. That would be it, I would never speak to him again. Two days went by before a mutual friend realized I didn’t know that our friend has a massive heart attack and was on life support waiting for family to arrive from out of state before saying their goodbyes.
I was in shock. It was so surreal. I felt angry, I felt hurt, I felt betrayed and who was he to leave this friendship and the pain it caused.
BUT, yes there is a but.
But what if my story, my message, him talking to me about the mistakes he made in his relationships, with his children, giving him a place to share his story, his message, one that ultimately I was able to pass on to his children when I would meet them at the funeral.
What if that was my purpose. What if I am the messenger? What if it is my purpose to help those who don’t have a voice or a place to tell their story from to give that to them. Help them find their tribe, their audience, to guide them through the rough waters of getting their message in front of the right people, at the right time and in the right format?
Don’t be him. Don’t miss the chance to tell the world your accomplishments, your experience, your trials and tribulations, your rise to success in life and business.
Together you are the voice, the author, the speaker and I am the catalyst of putting you in front of the right people, getting your message out, your stories, your inspiration your purpose so the imprint you leave on this world will create change.
