Who’s the Man?
The retelling of stories has always amused, frustrated and sometimes angered me, as it seems “every tale retold morphs a bit.”
The classic fish tale is the minnow that grew to be a whale to a young fisherman(sic).
Firstly there has been a gender bias since the beginning of the recorded times that have survived destruction by the fear-led paternalistic, dominant cultures , from his-tory to the here and now. Almost every position in our labor force as well as many active terms and procedures, in our cultures, end or begin with some variation of man: Policeman; Journeyman; ménage à trois; Mankind, Mennonite; Histerectemy; Menopause, Fisherman and many more…
…Thus HIStory is not HERstory, but rather OURstory!
With this in mind, “What do we want Our story to Be?” It’s our choice to dig into ourselves and unleash what we don’t know or want to release — our Voice. “How do you really feel about it? The irony of the question is the answer…I feel therefore I am!
