Why There Probably Was a Strong Personal Factor to GOP Rep. John Curtis’ Vote to Codify Same-Sex Marriage

U.S. Rep. John Curtis (R-Utah) supported writing same-sex (and interracial) marriage into federal law in the United States. He voted for the Respect for Marriage Act in July. While he certainly wasn’t the only Republican to do so, he represents a district where most of its residents lean right and was in the minority of Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives who voted that way.
