#30: Etch-A-Hologram
Shake it like a holographic picture!
Hey y’all, it’s your girl Janet. For today’s 100 Days post, I’m going to talk about one of my favorite Looking Glass projects, 3D Etch-a-Sketch. One of our developers, Nolan Filter, originally made a version of 3D Etch-a-Sketch for the Volume.
A common practice in new technological hardware is utilizing analog mechanics to help people adapt. What better OG mechanics are there than that of an Etch-a-Sketch?
Fast forward to 2018, and the Looking Glass is born. Nolan ported his Etch-A-Sketch project into the Looking Glass. One of our engineers, Evan Kahn, made a casing for it.
3D Etch-A-Sketch is just an example of how we can re-imagine the nostalgic times of our past in the Looking Glass. Something that was once a childhood drawing toy, transformed into a holographic object with an added dimension.
This is part of our “100 Days of Holograms” series, where we from Looking Glass Factory post one new wonderful or weird (or both!) use for the Looking Glass holographic display each day.
