It’s a running joke at this point about how nostalgic millennials are for the 90s. And I am no different. When given the task to make a pack of games for the Looking Glass, I immediately thought of these three things:

I stole this from here

Thus, (with *critical* aid from Kas Ghobadi, Flan Falacci, and Corey Bertelsen) I got to work on creating a collection of games inspired by analogs of my youth, that lived inside an eccentrically illustrated and modeled universe, with a strange, but useless guide. It is… 90s Party Pack.

The games are inspired by classic hits like Marble Maze, Hungry Hippo, Connect 4, Water Ring Toss, and Myst. The object interaction references the Windows 95 cursor, and the navigation of the main room makes use of the four Looking Glass buttons.

Basically, you’re in a 90s kid room. You’ve got a lot of toys on the floor because you’re one messy kid. There’s a boom box in your room that you can switch tracks on… and they seem eeerily familiar. There’s a weird tack named Tacky that tells you that you should click on those toys, because he’s really helpful. And when you click those toys (or your computer), you’re launched into the holographic version of that game.

Check out 90s Party Pack and play it for yourself. K o W a B u N g A

*this is part of our “100 Days of Holograms” series, where we from Looking Glass Factory post one new wonderful or weird (or both!) use for the Looking Glass holographic display each day.
