The Burden of Being First

Being first makes you a contradiction: You are both the best and the worst of your category.

That’s how it is when you’re first out of the gate, kicking things off, breaking the mold, insert more cliches.

There’s a lot of pressure being first. You set a precedent either way. If you’re great, those that follow will pale in comparison. If you’re terrible, all eyes will turn away. You and the rest will be quickly swept under the rug, lost in the shuffle, left on the platform, insert even more cliches.

Regardless, here I am. First Post!

Before, I was an idea. Then, a few words knocking around in the brain. Then a draft.

And now here I am, World, the First Post! Kudos to me! Exclamation points!

Maybe I won’t always be the best, but I will always be the first.

Suck it, Second Post.
