RECORDING LIVE FROM BOSTON ON SOMEONE’S COUCH

wondering how the fuck to go on tour without a vehicle — thinking

the gang from #afrotech2016 might disapprove of all this liquor and

the tears. some days you need liquor and tears. also, i’m supposed to

write about this conference blavity threw (you know, since i got a press

pass). meanwhile the white house agenda seems to be a racial holy war,

and i drank enough yesterday to turn everything liquid. i’m doing all

kinds of transit math and already tanked a marriage for the last tour, so

… probably, i should call my congressman. but i don’t have a lot of faith

in government today and i need to get to fucking pittsburgh.

y’all got a plan for Trumpmerica? sending vitamins to the highest

court in the land? Legalized pot in DC? anthrax? calling home?

our government is actively planning the demise of my people (and

possibly yours) and i’m supposed to get to pittsburgh. none of my

realities are adding up today. is this failure or success? how do you

take a step back from the world to see it clearly? with a long enough

lever and a place to stand, i could really make some shit happen.

i’m here half watching some deceased movie star, thinking about my

dead friend. i summarized the disaster of my last five years in a single

post on Facebook. i need to stop fucking my friends & feeling hopeless.

sitting here, stacking resources and obstacles, looking for an angle like

Picasso painting Guernica. you say you want a revolution — somebody

should have listened to Bernie.

OBEY papering the walls, black celebrities all dressed up and ready to

coon. we gathered some of our most brilliant minds in san francisco and

i got an invite. so what happened? in the ballot booth … on the tour van

… at the conference … in my mind. how can examining our world feel

so similar to building a sculpture from soup? name three politicians you

trust. here’s what i got from the conference: all we have is now. whatever’s

in your heart and mind, you better get it out. our nation is pressed to the

breaking point and i learned a little secret last week:

not all techies are white. we got some black brilliance out chea. niggas

stepping they game up. our fever dream of an executive branch just installed

rotors in the shithouse and all we got left of ancient rome is the aqueducts.

you seen the big short? wolf of wall street? wall street? boiler room? michael

clayton? sicario? the god father? our next president told you the game is rigged

and somebody voted him in. how crazy is that? he said he knows it’s rigged,

because he cheats to win. and then he won. Cheney’s been readying the camps

for over a decade and Obama increased the powers of the office. least Bill’s gone.

let me take a step back. i went to blavity’s afrotech conference and honestly

you wish you were there. i’ve been impressed with the rapid transition from

panic to productivity. we got a lot of work ahead. so what do you see? pick

a problem and fix it. call congress, if that’s your thing. we need to take care

of each other. to speak truth loud and often. trump’s campaign may well turn

half the nation to islam. and we got black genius grinding the gears of “progress”

because we don’t have time for any thing else. so i’m shrinking my network,

calling everyone i know and adding hours to the clock any way i can. this thing

is happening — with or without you. pick a motherfucking side. today.
