Red hats won’t love you how we loved you.

Red hats won’t keep the 808’s rockin.

Red hats won’t let you wear shutter shades to the bbq.

Red hats laugh when she cries.

Red hats think her worst day is funny.

It breaks our heart.

You used to be a champion.

You used to turn tragedy into triumph.

You used to make music that’s fire.

You used to spit your soul through the wire.

You’d even tell us about your mama.

You remember?

She worked late nights just to keep the lights on.

She got you training wheels so you could stay on your bike.

Red hats don’t care about that bike.

Red hats don’t care about Donda.

We used to love you when nobody could tell you anything.

Now we’re stuck with everything but you.

We miss you enough to wait for you to come home,

but we also can’t let our kids play with strangers.

I guess you never know what you got ’til it’s gone.
