How AI is Making Your Home the Most Secure It Can Be!
Artificial intelligence is everywhere. We have smartphones that use a range of AI technologies to provide services, digital assistants that are powered by AI, and in a few years, driverless cars are going to be more common. Included in this list is the Internet of Things (IoT).
Thanks to advancements in IoT programming, there’s a growing number of smart home technologies and voice recognition apps that can be linked to your existing software. This includes things like smart thermostats, smart entertainment systems, smart lights and smart appliances.
For most people, the primary attraction to smart home technology is that it can make your life more convenient. However, we are also starting to see a number of ways that smart technology can be used to improve safety and make the home more secure.
Smart Locks
When it comes to home security, it doesn’t get much more basic than a locked door. While traditional locks can be effective for controlling access, they do have their problems. A lock with a keyhole can be picked and keys can get lost, stolen, or copied. With smart locks that use AI, many of these problems can be resolved.
With a smart lock, you do away with the physical key. Instead, access is controlled using something like a PIN code or a smartphone app. Different users can be granted various levels of access, and these smart lock systems can come with a range of features that offer greater levels of security and convenience. Some of them may even be able to integrate different forms of biometric authentication.
Smart Cameras
Security cameras are widely recognized as one of the most effective burglary deterrents. When burglars see cameras, they are very likely to move to another target that presents less risk owl, CCTV systems are being outfitted with HD recording capabilities and DVRs that can document hundreds of hours of footage.
Along with better cameras and improved video storage, smart camera systems that can connect to the internet for remote monitoring and AI systems that can be used to recognize people as they approach the home are becoming increasingly common. With AI, your security cameras could develop a catalogue of profiles for people that should always be allowed access. If a suspicious person approaches the home, the system could give you a warning or even contact emergency services.
Integration
With the Internet of Things, all of these security systems could be linked. In some cases, it might be through a security app; in others, you might be able to control all of your smart home features through a digital personal assistant.
With all of these connected systems working together, you can structure your home security to be smarter and much more effective. The AI that supports smart home security will eventually evolve to the point where human monitoring is unnecessary. The systems will be able to provide around the clock threat detection that’s just as accurate as any human. When a threat is detected, it could then sound an alarm, contact the police, or follow any number of additional security protocols.
