In leading Thumbtack, my proudest moments are watching our team members grow in their careers and expand the scope of the possible. Over the past ten years I have seen so many talented individuals make an impact and take on new responsibilities. These changes and advancements come with a lot of exciting firsts: new roles, new managers, and new company leaders.
After three years of incredible contributions to our team and our company, I am delighted to share another: Justin Angsuwat has been promoted to Chief People Officer.
Justin is the first person in our history to hold this role. In this position, he will continue overseeing our business partner, recruiting, people analytics, organizational development, compensation and benefits, workplace experience, culinary, and operations teams.
People are at the heart of everything at Thumbtack. And, Justin is dedicated to creating an environment where our teams work together to do amazing things in service of our customers and pros.
During his tenure, Justin built up our People team function to be both empathetic and analytical. He was instrumental in creating the people business partner team, introducing organizational development as well as building a new people analytics function.
Justin leads with a creative, strategic, and entrepreneurial approach. In partnership with his teams, he led the charge to use science, data, and analytics to drive a better employee experience at Thumbtack. Recent noteworthy projects include:
- Rolling out levels company-wide and a new compensation framework to increase fairness
- Unearthing and reducing bias by introducing structure to our review and feedback process
- Leading our values refresh to crystallize who we are and how we work
- Changing how we measure and take action on employee engagement and sentiment
- Helping create a culture recognized three years running as a “Best Place to Work” by Fortune Magazine and Great Place to Work
In this new role, Justin is focused on engaging and supporting our team so that we can deliver on our mission. As we embark on an extended period of working from home due to COVID-19, he is working to create a sense of belonging and community while we are physically apart.
Prior to Thumbtack, Justin spent three years working at Google, as the HR leader for the head of sales and operations, who had an organization of 10,000 globally. His career also includes experience in human capital consulting in New York City primarily for private equity, Fortune 100 companies, and the United Nations.
Please join me in congratulating Justin on his new role as Chief People Officer.
