At Thunkable, we design our experiences for joy — and today, we are excited to start the new year with a few new features on our new iOS app platform that we hope will make the experience of building an app downright joyful. Well, at least better than doing your taxes.

Create your first app and give it a name

With our latest release, you can now rename it anything you want.

Start your app by drag and dropping components onto the phone

With our latest release, you can now reorder the components by drag and dropping on our component tree on the left.

Live test your app project early in the process

On Thunkable, developers of the future can live test their app as they build them. Even hard core developers don’t have this super power.

To live test on iOS, please download our latest Thunkable live app from the App Store (If you already have the app, please make sure to get the latest version). Simply login and then hit “Live Test” on the platform to sync your phone with any changes you make to your app project.

Say farewell to the days of scanning QR codes with your phone (sorry to the Thunkable veterans who love scanning!)

Download your app to take it with you

You’ll receive an email with a link to download the app in 4–5 minutes. You can find more details here.

Start the App Store publishing process in a few clicks

You’ll need to be a member of Apple’s developer program to qualify (currently $99/year) and your app will need to meet the App Store’s guidelines.

Normal iOS developers need their own Mac to package and compile their app but Thunkable has rented out some Macs in case you don’t have one handy.

Share your app project with your collaborator or someone you love

When they click the link, they will receive a copy of your app project in their Thunkable account. This will save them time and maybe give them some new ideas. Everyone can use a little more time and a little inspiration!
