Google AdMob Components Now Available!
Dear Thunkers,
This month we’re excited to start featuring monthly stories from app creators around the world. But before we dive into tales of super typhoons and community heroes, here are a few updates on our end:
Ads by AdMob
We are excited to announce the launch of Google AdMob components on Thunkable!
With Ads by AdMob, all Thunkers will be able to test AdMob in their apps. Please note, only Thunkable PRO members will be able to download and publish apps with ads. We will be supporting:
- AdMob Rewarded Video ads
- Interstitial
- AdMob Banner ads
Apps with AdMob must be approved subject to our review guidelines before they can be downloaded or published.
Looking for a sample app with ads? Try this dice rolling app. It includes a banner ad and will also show an interstitial ad anytime a six is rolled.
Thunkable On Air: Weekly Live App Building Sessions
Every Friday at 10:00 AM PT, we will be hosting a new live app building series called Thunkable On Air! Come join us as we build questions, answer apps……….oh ****………I just mixed that up…and we can’t go back because it’s a live web series. So embarrassing. So exciting. Tune in!
Super Typhoons, Climate Change and Thunkable Apps
For our first community feature, meet Don Schlack, an engineer with the Army Corps of Engineers. Don built an app on Thunkable to deal with super typhoons and hurricanes.
Power Thunker of the Month: Hayder Ghazi
As an English teacher in Iraq, Hayder was motivated to create Guidy, an app to help his students learn the EFL curriculum. To date, Guidy has been downloaded more than 25,000 times, and has been featured on national television and received recognition from the Iraqi Minister of Education. His follow-up project is called “USA”, and is a bilingual app which allows users to learn about the history and geography of the United States in both English or Arabic.
App of the Month: Jasper Goes Skiing

App: Jasper Goes Skiing
“Jasper Goes Skiing” is a game app where players guide Japser the cat down a mountain to the aprés-ski lodge, and collect power-ups along the way. The game features a global high-score board so you can challenge your friends.
App of the Month is a regular competition for Successfully Thunk’d apps. To be eligible to enter, publish your app to the App Store or Google Play Store and create a post about it in the community.
Community Spotlight: Dennis Hartel
This month we want to highlight the tremendous work of community member Dennis Hartel. Dennis’s travel app, Lisnex, allows users to explore new cities with customized tours. The app currently features London and Dennis’s hometown Würzburg, Germany. We were impressed with Lisnex’s professional design and UX. You can download the app for both Android and iOS. Great work Dennis!
Featured Sample App: Whale Spotter by Albert
It’s humpback whale season in the Pacific, and the Whale Spotter app helps us track these gentle giants as they migrate from the nutrient-rich waters of Alaska to their breeding grounds in Hawai’i. Whale Spotter can be customized for any of your favorite creatures. Data points are stored in an Airtable spreadsheet that you can view here.
