The key to a great user experience is a great user interface. A clean, connected, and well-built user interface (UI) is the most important element of the user experience (UX). Building and maintaining a consistent UI makes a world of difference for your end-users. That is why we are proud to announce our newest feature — Figma file import!

One of Thunkable’s most significant innovations is our deep integration with Figma’s design tool. We offer a variety of ways to design an app within the Thunkable platform, but now you can directly import your user interface (UI) design from Figma, then add logic to turn the design into a functional app. This new capability will bring product designers even closer to the development process and expedite the entire launch cycle.

Link your Figma file by clicking ‘Assets’ on the left side of the project design screen

“This capability will supercharge your app design efforts,” said Amy Ngai, Head of Product Design. “As a designer, it is imperative that design stays in lockstep to the product development process. Figma import allows the designer’s exact vision to be used within the app. This cuts down on the back and forth between design and development, which speeds up the launch process.”

Regardless of team size, too often designers and developers are disconnected from each other. Designers have a specific vision for the product that can get lost in shared files, requirements documents, and Slack messages. The product designer’s vision gets ground down into sprints, tasks, and to-do items for developers. It then becomes a “guess and check” approach where the designer has to review the developer’s work to ensure consistency. And even in the no-code world, where design and development are in one place — it can become difficult to maintain a coherent UI & UX throughout the entire app.

Import your designs directly to Thunkable

Thunkable’s Figma design import capabilities will dramatically improve the quality, consistency, and speed for no-code creators.

With this capability users can:

  • Rapidly Prototype New Ideas: Take an idea, mock it out in Figma, and then build a functional prototype in Thunkable to get users hands-on with your concept, faster.
  • Extend Existing Products To Mobile: Extend an existing web product to mobile, while ensuring the brand and product design perfectly match company standards.
  • Test New User Experiences: Take an existing app and experiment with new UI designs. Users can simply remix their existing app, import a new UI from Figma, and test out new user flows
  • Build A Mobile-First Business: Launch low-risk, high-reward startup ideas using publicly available app mock-ups designed in Figma, and turn them into real apps on Thunkable.

The possibilities are limitless. Whichever way you decide to approach the design of your app — Thunkable is here to give you the best no-code tool for mobile app development.

If you’re interested in turning your Figma design into a functional app, check out Thunkable today! And if you’re looking to take your UI designs to the next level, be sure to sign up for Figma.

Please note: Thunkable’s Figma import capability is not affiliated with Figma. The Thunkable platform is compatible with Figma and the designed files must be in the appropriate format to properly sync.
