On “Thunkable ✕” Anyone can Build Their Own Mobile Apps for Android and iOS
Today, we are proud to announce the launch of Thunkable ✕, a new DIY app builder where anyone can build their own mobile apps for Android and iOS.
Thunkable ✕ is a cross-platform app builder, which means that all apps built on the platform work for both Android and iOS devices.
On Thunkable ✕, non-coders can easily design beautiful apps, program powerful functionality with drag & drop blocks and upload apps to the Google Play Store and Apple’s App Store.
Why are we doing this?
The number of smartphone users is forecast to grow to 2.5 billion in 2019.
But without innovation in how we build apps, only a handful of coders will be able to define how we interact with our mobile devices.
That’s why — -as a team of software engineers — -we are focused on enabling everyone with the ability to build their own powerful mobile applications. And we’re not new to the game, almost half of our team has spent the past 10 years focusing on this issue at Google and MIT.
Traditionally, building a sophisticated app requires hundreds of thousands of dollars and two teams of engineers — one team for Android and one team for iOS. But now, non-coders can build their own apps on one platform, and every app will work on Android devices, iPhones and iPads.
And we have already seen some pretty cool results.
In the past two years, we have grown to more than 500K users who have built more than 1M apps. And apps built on Thunkable have more than 16M MAUs, across 195 countries.
Throughout the world, Thunkable apps are connecting communities, growing businesses and solving problems in innovative ways.
Most excitingly, we have also seen a new and diverse group of app builders emerge, who bring unique and fresh perspectives to their projects.
