I had my first CT scan after 3 months of treatments last week. It’s the most important day for cancer patients to see the results of all the suffers that we’re going through.

The top photo is the new scan (Jan 11), the bottom photo is the old scan (Oct)

“We could not ask for better results” , said my doctor

There are still some pleural effusion left in my lung, yet it doesn’t cause any more pain or short of breath anymore. I was able to get back to hiking, and want to Eaton Canyon Falls last week with my aunt.

My best friend visited me from Vietnam for the new year. For the last 15 years, we never had anytime to travel together though both of us love travel. Our very first business trip together was to Hanoi in September last year, and I got into the ER. After her wedding in Vietnam — which I could not attend — Ha and her husband visited the US for the first time. Here are some of the places we visited in 14 days

  • Hollywood Blvd & Hollywood Sign
  • Huntington Library + Old Town Pasadena
  • Beverly Hills Rodeo Dr
  • Ventura (Channel Islands) & Point Mugu State Park
  • Joshua Tree National Park
  • Griffith Observatory & Korean Town
  • USS Midway + Cabrillo National Monument — San Diego
  • Ensenada & La Bufadora — Mexico
  • Hover Dam + Lake Mead + Las Vegas — Nevada
  • USC & California Science Center

I also helped her get the marriage license in Las Vegas. It’s actually a very interesting process and I’m glad to be their witness.

On the first time I got CT scan in Vinmec Hanoi, my fever was too high and it made my body shaking after the scan. Therefore, I was very nervous for this second scan. However, I’m glad to have her with me this time as well.

I also started helping out the USC Kuhn Lab for one of their mobile projects starting this week. It’s just a peaceful feeling to be at USC campus. This time, I hope to enjoy it a little bit more
